Plymouth Argyle central defender Alex Mitchell has expressed his excitement, stating he is "buzzing" after being named the club's Supporters' Player of the Season. The 24-year-old, on a season-long loan from Charlton Athletic, has been a pivotal figure for the Pilgrims, making 46 appearances in all competitions this season. His consistent performances have been crucial as Plymouth Argyle pushed for a League One play-off spot.

Mitchell shared his approach to loan spells with BBC Radio Devon, explaining, "I've been on loan quite a few times and my approach to it is I'm going to act as a permanent player, proper dive into it and live the Plymouth life a bit." He noted that this strategy has served him well throughout his career, including previous stints at Lincoln City and in Scotland. Winning the award as a loan player is a rare feat, highlighting the exceptional support he has received from the Plymouth Argyle fanbase.

This spell at Home Park marks Alex Mitchell's fifth loan move, having previously played for Lincoln City, St Johnstone, Leyton Orient, and Bromley before joining Charlton Athletic on a three-year deal in the summer of 2024. He reflected on his time at Argyle, stating, "I really enjoyed my loan at Lincoln, I thought that was unreal and Lincoln's always got a special place in my heart, but I think this has probably topped it, if I'm being honest."

Mitchell praised the unique atmosphere at Plymouth Argyle, noting, "I think the way that people have taken to me here, I've never seen anything like it. I think it just works." He described the club as a "Premier League-supported club in League One," emphasizing the passion of the supporters. On the pitch, this season has been his most active, playing in many important games.

He views his time at Plymouth Argyle as a significant step in his career development. "Every loan's different, every loan I feel like you're trying to learn something, but I feel like this loan I've tried to be a bit of a leader, a bit of a mainstay and I think this loan for my career will probably be the best one," Mitchell added. He has previously indicated he would consider a permanent move to Argyle should an agreement be reached with Charlton Athletic over the summer.
